Default bow advice

I'm new so if this has been asked already I'm sorry but I am looking at getting a new bow and am wondering what is a decent bow for a decent price. I know matthews is probably the best around but they are way out of my reach. I've been told Diamond is a pretty good brand. Any thoughts?

There are many great bows out there available at just about everyones budget. What I would do, is go to some of the local proshops around you and shoot a few and see what is more comfortable. Bear makes some terrific bows and PSE makes them as well, at affordable prices. Look at the Bear Lights Out or PSE Stinger. These two bows are excellent bows and affordable for about everyone. They are fast, quiet and real easy to shoot...I love my PSE Stinger.

Martin has a nice lineup of affordable bows that can hang with bows twice their cost.

Mission by Mathews has some good bows, same attribrutions, but a smaller price. Best bet, shoot a few of them & go with what fits you & what you feel confident with.

I'm partial to my Hoyt... and I know they make a Hawk series line of bows that are very smooth and priced for the budgeted hunter...But all in all you can't go wrong with some of the other sugestions. I agree with the Wis Bow Huntr ... go to a local archery shop if you have one near you shoot serveral different models and find the one that feels right to you!!! It's like test driving a new truck, you won't know how it drives and feels until you get behind the wheel...... Good luck and let us know what you decide on

If you think you would like Mathews, but not their price, then take a look at Mission. Also, the Hoyt Tubro Hawk, same features as the Hoyt Alpha Max with a much smaller price tag.

Martin makes some great bows at a reasonable price, as does bear. I have never shot a Diamond before, but they are a sister company to Bowtec, so I would guess they are good choice as well.

The key is to shoot several bows from different companies, find the one that you like the best. Good luck in your search!

most bows now days are going to be built very well. i agree that matthews leads the pack, but don't feel like your settling by getting another brand or something cheaper. there have been many bows of all price ranges that have arrowed many deer including trophies. as long as you practice and can hit where you aim, it does not really matter what name it has or how much you paid for it. personally, i would recommend Parker

The best bow for you, is the best bow for you. What I mean is, what is best for me, might not be best for you. In todays market, its hard to find a bad quality bow. so Id suggest going to a proshop and shooting several and find the one that feels best for you, and in the price range you feel comfortable with.

I might be showing how long its been since ive delt with compound, but Highcountry use to have great bows for a nice price. It might of been called Bigcountry, I cant remember. They were older Hoyt models made by the company im trying to remember. So they were actually Hoyts made by this company. Kind of like Weatherby vanguard rifles and howa. Same gun, different name.
