Default THERMALS WHEN HANGING STANDS.

WELL WITH JULY HERE I WILL START HANGING TREE STANDS IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I WENT UP TO MY BROTHERS TODAY AND WE GOT ALL HIS STANDS OUT AND HUNG A COUPLE OF THEM.
WE ALL PLAY THE WIND WHEN HANGING STANDS AND HUNTING OUT OF THEM. I HAVE FOUND THAT A LOT OF HUNTERS DO NOT THINKS ABOUT THERMALS WHEN HUNTING. AFTER YEARS OF BEING BUSTED I LEARNED THAT THERMALS PLAY A MAJOR ROLL ALONG WITH THE WIND ON WHAT STAND I WILL HUNT. THERMALS RAISES IN THE MORNINGS AND WILL CARRY YOUR SCENT UP. THERE IF I FIND A PLACE AROUND A HILL SIDE I WILL PLACE ONE STAND ALMOST AT THE TOP OF THE HILL AND ANOTHER ONE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. THIS WAY MY SCENT GOES UP INTO THE AIR WITHOUT DEER WINDING ME. NOW IF THE AFTERNOON AROUND
2 PM I WILL MOVE TO A STAND AT THE BOTTOM OR BASE OF THE HILL DUE TO THERMALS FALLING. THIS WAY THE DEER APPROCH FROM ABOVE ME AND CAN NOT SMELL ME HOPEFULLY. I HAVE SOME STANDS THAT I ONLY HUNT IN THE AM WHEN THE WIND IS RIGHT AND I HAVE OTHER THAT ONLY HET HUNTED IN THE PM WHEN THE WIND IS RIGHT. SINCE DOING THIS SEVERAL YEARS AGO I HAVE SEEN MORE DEER THEN BEFORE THEN WHEN I JUST HUNG STANDS PLAYING JUST THE WIND.
HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP YOU ALL WHEN HANGING YOUR STANDS THIS YEAR. GOOD HUNTING.

This may be useful when the wind doesn't blow whatsoever.

I have spoken in the past with a weather man who advised that wind will push thermals the direction it is belowing but for the most part they will rise in the morning and fall in the evening. Last year I realy watched this on days that the wind speed was under 10 mph my wind dust would go the direction of the wind and up some. The same is to be said for evening also. A few times I tried it with the wind 11 mph + and could not realy tell if it went up or down. This is something to think about when hanging stands for am or pm hunts that might help you score a buck of a life time.
I have been doing this for the past 4 years and I have seen a differnce in the number of deer I seen and the number of deer that below me. Good Hunting.
