Who got you into bow hunting? For me it was the guys at work, I would listen to
them talk about bowhunting and how exciting it was,so I went out and bought a
cheap bow. Trapshooting buddy worked at pro shop set me up with arrows, release and a few tips, shot two deer my first year. Really hooked now, just whished I would of started alot early in life.

My grandfather got me into every form of hunting that I do. Except for elk. There was always a bow at his house for us to shoot as children growing up as well as bb and pellet guns. He always took the time to show us the shooting sports and take us hunting and fishing.

Fred Bear got me into bowhunting!!
Now I never had the priviledge of meeting him, but I got into archery/bowhunting from reading about his adventures.
Guess I lived a sheltered life as a child, because I already had one buck under my belt before I knew anybody that even owned a bow!
Looking back, archery sure was simpler in those days, before they invented the wheel!

My dad got me into shooting a bow, he enjoyed shooting ( a recurve no sites) but didn' t hunt deer. He did like bowfishing. A freind of his was an avid bowhunter, he had hunted 20 years when he showd me the ropes. It sure helped me become successful quickly. The two biggest lessons he taught me: 1) know your range, his max was 25 yards, after shooting with him he told me my range was 20. Only 100% kill shots. 2) After shooting a deer he always waited 2 hours before any looking for blood or tracking. If the shot was questionable he waited 8 to 10 hours (overnight)......very smart!
Good luck!

Me I guess...I just always loved them when I was a little kid. I thought they where cool and my uncle John shot one & so I thought they where really cool! Once I learned a bit more about them then it woud have been Fred Bear, he was the one. I read his books (the archers bible is still a great read!) and then I would have to say the guys at Bowhunter Magazine, back in the early 80' s I started reading Bowhunter & then I just got totally into it.

My Dad got be started. He loved bowhunting and spent a lot of time with me teaching me how to shoot. When I was 12 he agreed to buy me new bow if I would paint the garage. I took him on that offer and I' ve had 14 great years of bowhunting since. I can' t wait to pass it along to my son. He' s only one now, so I' ve still got a few years to get in some good hunting on my own

I guess I got myself into bowhunting. After 2 unsuccessful rifle seasons, I decided I wanted to spend more time in the woods. I' ve always loved being in the woods so I figured this would be the best way. My only regret is that I didn' t get started sooner.

I kinda got myself into it too.I knew a few guys that bowhunted but none of my friends did.I went to an outdoor show in Boston and they had a booth setup where you could shoot a couple of arrows for a buck.I shot and got hooked right there on the spot. The thing that most impressed me was the bow itself.Don' t have a clue as to what brand it was but it was a compound and it really appealed to my gadget side with the cams and wheels.Ron
