My dad got me into shooting a bow, he enjoyed shooting ( a recurve no sites) but didn' t hunt deer. He did like bowfishing. A freind of his was an avid bowhunter, he had hunted 20 years when he showd me the ropes. It sure helped me become successful quickly. The two biggest lessons he taught me: 1) know your range, his max was 25 yards, after shooting with him he told me my range was 20. Only 100% kill shots. 2) After shooting a deer he always waited 2 hours before any looking for blood or tracking. If the shot was questionable he waited 8 to 10 hours (overnight)......very smart!
