How do you choose?

RE: How do you choose?
Most all the new bows are very good.
It's up to the shooter to decide what features are most important to him/her
A very basic rundown.
Price?
Forgiveness? Brace height (distance from string to grip) allows more forgiveness. A longer bow = more forgiveness
Speed? How fast the arrow flies
Design Precision? The ability to make repeatedly good shots based on the same technique this applies more to the competitive archer shooting spots or 3d
Feel? What feels food in your hands
Noise, vibration? Little as possible on YOUR budget.

1. Shootability
2. Availability
3. Feel
4. Resale Value
5. Price
In that order.
What I've learned is.....there are certain features I won't live without in a bow. I just had one custom built (received it two weeks ago) and I placed a second custom order yesterday. I'll have two bows, come March, that I'd be tickled to hunt with.

RE: How do you choose?
ASK :
How well does the bow feel to you when shooting it-You can only determine this at the archery shop if the staff adjusts the draw length to suit you (make sure they do - if they wont run !)
Does it feel like a bow you want to shoot all day and can 'drive nails' with ?
Can I afford the bow AND GOOD rest, sight, arrows.... if not look at less expensive bows and start over !
Good Luck !

RE: How do you choose?
When shopping for a new bow, I will only look at bows that meet a certain criteria.25+ years of shooting a bow hastaught me that I am only capable of shooting longer(35"+) ATAbow well and I prefer a longer (7"+) BH.So I start my search my limiting the number of bows I will test to only those that meet those criteria. Once I have those bows picked out thenI start shooting them and rate them in the following area.
1. Shootability - This is very personal and nobody can tell you how well you will shoot a specific bow
2. Shootability - I say it again because it is the single most important aspect.
After I find the bow that I shoot the best, then I simply walk out of the shop with it. Why would I even consider purchasing any other bow than the one I can shoot the best?
