Breaking the silence, I fell!

I dont want to sound like im being mean cause Im really not, im glad youre ok and youre lucky to be walking, better yet your lucky to be alive, but I think many here will agree on this. Serves you right. Its a shame that it tooka fall that could end your ability to walk, or cause your death to make you realize the importance of a safety harness. I do not feel sorry for you. But im very very happy youre alive and doing well.

UGH!!! Broken Clavicle's hurt like a ***** I've broken both of mine I couldn't imagine trying to pull a bow back, of course you've had a few months...
I have not always hunted with a harness but whenever I'm in a single or climber I do, every stand comes with at least one harness there is no reason I shouldn't be using one...
Glad you're OK and healing well...

Glad to hear you made It through AR. To be honest I can't stand wearing one but I do wear one If the tree I'm In permits It. Take care and be safe.

There's NO SUCH THING as a tree that won't "permit" the use of a safety vest. I had to do it Steve!

So you take care andBE SAFE!! By the way, I feel like I'm in a glass house tossing stones at you because I admit I don't wear one like I should. AndI've got a Hunter's Safety Systemtoo!!

Lol!! I can take It Jeff, give me hell!!
Actually there Is a such thing as a tree that won't permit one, at least for me there was this fall. My portable hang on stands that I make myself can go In trees that can have a good lean to them. I adjust the angle of the stand so Its flat and not leaning with the angle of the tree. The the 2 trees I was In this fall both leaned back and thus the harness was way to short that connects me to the tree. My feet were close to the tree but my upper body and head were way to far away.

The muddy safeguard looks like a good vest also,I use the seat of the pants.I also fell and tore a muscle in my shoulder and with a good surgon and 4 months recovery I am one of the lucky ones, know another guy that fell and laid there all day until found with a broken back, spent 100 days in the hospitol. If you care about who's waiting at home wear them,it's not a matter of if,it's a matter of when

AR,
Sorry you had to learn a lesson the"hard" way but I'm glad you're doing better. I too had not been wearing any safety device for about 20 years and my wife kept nagging me about it. Couple of years ago I told her I was going to start wearing one. Next thing I knew, we were at Gander Mtn. and she bought me a Hunter Safety System to wear. If I knew thats all it took, I would have gotten one years ago. Seriously though, I've had it for three seasons and if I don't have it for whatever reason, I honestly feel naked. I was just lucky, or Someone was looking out for me all those years thatI didn't wear one. I won't get in a tree nowwithout one. Just a quick story, I was in the hospital a few years ago having back surgery and they brought a guy into the room with me after I had been there a couple of days. He was writhing in pain and crying out very loud. It seems he had fallen from his stand and had broken both legs, both ankles and had internal injuries. To make a long story short, his legs were so badly broken that they told him before surgery that they were going to have to amputate one leg. They didn't but he was facing months if not years of rehab. Here's the kicker, he was self-employed and the only person in his small excavatingcompany. I don't know what ever happened to him but it woke me up to reality. I'll be praying for your complete recovery.

Schultzy, I put a little foot and a half extension on the strap, works like a charm. I always felt the strap was too short even on a straight tree. If I had to shoot to my right, the strap was pulling on me, or can get in the way of my bow arm.
From your pics, you look like a pretty big dude. If you fall, you're gonna fall HARD!
Wear your harness you big dummy!
