Another idea I like to do is to carry a small hand held sickle with me. I sometimes set up in the corner of a goldenrod/wheat/tall grass/uncut corn, etc field where I have good sign. I use the sickle to cut down a few lanes. I setup inside the field looking out.

I've taken some clippers with me and backed right into an evergreen tree. Trim an area where you don't hit any branches and your set.
