Shoot, Shovel and Shut-up! That's the way to handle it. You can't count on Conservation Officers, the Police or Animal Control helping you. The only help I'm asking for is from Mr. T/C Encore chambered in .204 Ruger !

As you can see, I'm having the same problem!

I have been having the same problem on my hunting land, and I dont own it, but I have sole permision to be out there. For 2 years now we have been having the neighbors dogs running around my hunting spot. The land owners have called the sherriff a few times now, and the last time they came out, the sherriff told the dog owners, that the next time I or the land owner sees the dogs on our land, we have the right to shoot them. I have only seen the dogs one time this year, but I was in my stand yesterday morning about 7:00, and the dogs owner comes out and starts calling for his dogs. He called for them for about an hour, and they never showed up. I wonder if one of the other neighbors got sick of them running deer.

Dogs should be kept on owners property, same as horses, cows, pigs.

I would not hesitate. Once a dog gets a taste of running deer, they are always going to do it. I am with Chris H. "Thwack".

Instead of coming across as some heartless no good SOB, I have had a lab shot by a deer hunter. He was "defending" himself w/a slug gun. I was pissed to say the least. He had no right to kill my dog. But I f'd up and let my dog run during gun season. My bad. The dog and my kids paid.

On the hunters note, you are not out there sitting quietly only to have some dog ruin your hunt. I have warned neighbors about letting their dogs run and if the dogs f'up my hunt, I may just off their dog.

Remember. all you have to do is tell the cop you were on the ground "defending" yourself and they will never prosecute.
