Buck I shot this year, came from about 250-300 yrds, across open field right to me. I Grunted 3 times, and then waited. After first grunt his head went up and looked right at me.

I have a Knight and Hale Translator

http://www.knightandhale.com/product...?id=9443941167

But I have used it at other times, and bucks show no interest, so its hit and miss with callling.....

I rattled in two this past sunday. I took my son out to try to get his first deer and we saw one about 300 yards away that was real nice, but not interested in coming so see us. Of the two that came in, one was a 9pt (115"ish) and just would not stop long enough for my boy to get a shot. The other was a small 8pt 1.5 year old with about an 8 inch spread and 2 in G2's. We held out and didn't take him. I use a rattling bag from walmart, don't know what brand. The primos grunt call works good for me as well., but not well enough on that particular day to make the 9pt stop long enough to shoot.
