I think there was some confusion as to if he was replacing the O-ring versus adding a rubber band. At least I hope so.[]

Mission accomplished.

$3.18 box of 250 from Wal-Mart....in the hair section. Gotta put up with yellow, white, green, blue and pink.....but it'll get the job done, nicely. Perfect size....and the blades open when pushed through a plastic grocery bag.

As a rage user myself...first time this season, and I'll be using them as long as I can find them...I have a question...

Why do you NEED a rubberband?? Is this from a bad experience or are you just trying to buy $3.18 worth of insurance incase that buck of a lifetime comes by?

I shake the hell out of my arrows after pulling them out of the quiver to make sure the blades didn't come undone...seems to work for me.

Simply "insurance"....and I shake mine, too.

I also hang my quiver on my bow hook..and the one I use (quiver) lets the blades hanf down outside the protective cover. So...they touch the bow hook.

NEVER had one open at a bad time....but I like having a little insurance. Doesn't adversely affect the performance, either. Ive shot several deer without the bands....and 3 with them. No difference in actual performance.

I thought he was replacing the O ring at the base of the blades. Not rubber banding the blades shut.
ORIGINAL: Matt / PA

For the love of God are we talking about rubber bands or O-rings? Would SOMEONE please clear this up?

I would NOT put an o-ring similar to what Rage uses for their blade retention AROUND the blades themselves.
I would put a simple dental/rocket/snyper yellowish stretchy little style rubber band around the blades. They stretch easily....hard o-rings do not, and are easilt rolled, slid or cut out of the way as the blades deploy.

If you put an actual thick inflexible rubber O-ring around the blades like that black one UNDER the blades you are asking for trouble.
