Default carry a side arm?

i know in maine you an carry a side arm as long as you don' t use it to dispacth your prey with it.

how many carry a little 22 or a sidearm when bow hunting? i wish i could carry one just to make it feel better in the spring to not walk into one of the many balck bears that are looking for food for their hibernation.[]

We hunt a 1000 acre farm in the mountains, and we all carry side arms, hunting or just walking around. We saw 5 different bears last year,I had a mom and two cubs come within 20 yds of my tree during bow season..I' d hate to have one decide he wants to climb the tree I' m in . We have several coyotes too..I have a concealed pistol license.

I carry a little Taurus PT .25 but i have no faith against bears with it . I' ve come across alot of wild dogs and coyotes. Also I never carry any where without a concealed permit either. Game Wardens can be unforgiving.

Its legal here in Montana, as I have a Ruger 357, S.S. with a 3" barrel, and even with that I am undergunned. I like it cause its small and lite. Last year when I was sitting in my spot before daybreak and after a moment I heard something in the dark comeing in my direction, maybe elk, maybe moose, or was it a deer or bear, I dunno but it was so close, I could hear it breathe and heard its ears flap when it shook his head and I just froze as I had my bow across my lapp and my pistol ready and bear spray out of the pouch. There was no snow on the ground so I never did find out what it was to this day. Sorry, didn' t mean to ramble on, later, Bobby
