Well...

You better go back and recalculate...I bought a Nikon rangefinder a few years back...When I range a tree that is say, 26 yards from me and at the same height as me (my pull rope is 25 feet long and I'm usually about 20-22 feet up)...Then I range the same tree at 2-3 feet off the ground, I'll get 27 yards or so...Not enough for a hunter to worry about...

What would that be at 45 yards though? Enough to worry about?

You have feet in this diagram but yards in the above equation,I believe feet would be correct but not yards.

Unless your on a very, very steep hill and very, very high it's never 2 yards.

If your ever worried about it, range the animal, take 1 yard off and aim for the exit hole.

The difference DECREASES as you get further from the base of the tree, angle flattens out making it closer to a straight line so no,it isn't enough to worry about.

Dangifino...

I've killed more than 75 or so with a bow, going back to 60s, never shot at one with a bow further than 25 yards, I always thought it was about how close you could get them, not how far do I hope I can hit him...My shots usually come from 12-17 yards or so...

A(height of tree)^2+B(from base of tree to target)^2=C(true diagnol distance)^2

My second buck with a bow was 35 yards and if I had the chance I cirtainly wouldn`t pass on him if he was at 45,or 60 for that matter.
