Default Camo...Those Who Left ASAT for something else.

So, with all this camo talk lately, it has me thinking. I've been using my ASAT 3d suit for two years now (this will be my third season), and I've been very happy with it. Other than the bulkiness (their sizing runs a bit on the large size I think), it's a pretty solid suit. However, I've been looking at pictures of the Fall Brown, and I really like it. So much so, that I'm even considering purchasing a set in Wolfskin. My question is how many of you had tried (or for sake of this discussion, considered purchasing) ASAT, and then switched to something else (like Fall Brown, Deception, Fall Grey, Enigma, etc)? If so, why? I was looking at pictures of ASAT (stagged hunting scenarios), and Fall Brown. FB seemed to break up the outline much better, and while ASAT did a good job, it tended to create a few black blobs here and there (no granted these were just from a few photo scenarios, that doesn't mean it's the case in all situations). I suppose it all boils down to the old "stick with what works," or should I give another pattern (possibly even better than ASAT), a try?

Just a side note, money is not factor in this decision (well it is, but it's not of great importance when weighing the effectivness of a pattern).

I looked at ASAT for a long time and even hadan awesome opportunity to purchase it for very cheap, but chose Predator instead.

I personally don't mind spending money on camo that will be used for specific seasons, I don't need a "do it all" kind of pattern. Ifelt that various flavors of Predator was better suited for this. I also feel that the availability to get it on Wolfskin made it a big advantage. By time season is here, I will have a complete outfit in Predator Gray, Predator Green, and Predator Brown.

Matt (MGH), I've worn ASAT for a very long time and had it not changed hands, probably would be today. I feel it's one of the very Top of the line camo patterns. It's hard to understand until you wear it how truly incredible it is. I've never gotten away with the things I've gotten away with wearing ASAT with ANY other camo available. That said, I won't give a cent of my money to ASAT today. Personal reasons.

Enigma G1 proved itself to me time and time again the last 2 seasons. G2 is even better and comes in Wolfskin for a great price.

Fall Brown from GWW is a superior product as well, and I also like Fall Deception. Fall Grey and Spring Green have their seasons but if your only buying ONE, definately go with Fall Brown or Deception.

I'm also impressed with AP but, no Wolfskin there.

I also agree with the effectiveness of ASAT, but will not buy anything from them anymore because their quality and business practices have went straight down the crapper.

I bought some of the Predator Deception in the poly for our hot days. I would be trying it out this evening if I wasn't pulling a 16hr shift at work right now and have to come right back in in eight hours.

Rob, I assume you purchased your ASAT way before the company switched hands (or whatever happened that caused the sudden change)? Did you stop using it because of the way they were running things, or you just wanted to try something new? I'm hesistant to ask this for fear of starting a camo war, but in your experience (since we hunt basically the same terrain/environment), do you feel Enigma is on par (or even better) overall than ASAT (considering quality of material, versatility, effectiveness, etc)? I think you also have Predator Fall Brown, correct? How would you say that compares to both Enigma and ASAT?

Enigma is definately on Par with ASAT, particularly generation 2 which is all you can purchase at the time being. It's the right tones and break up. I was never busted in G1 and I feel G2 is superior than G1. I know Chuck is working as hard as he can on the 3D sometime in the near future. I am actually very exited about it but we won't see it this season I don't believe. Where it surpasses ASAT is material as Enigma comes in Wolfskin.

I stopped being an ASAT company supporter because of the current owner and his practices. I still believe ASAT the pattern is incredible. If the company changes hands/owners and he's a reputable guy I'll purchase ASAT again.

Fall Brown is an exceptional pattern as well.
