need help picking a bow
Im in the market for getting a new bow. I am looking at the hoyt katera the hoyt vectrix and a mathews dxt or mathews switchback.I havnt yet had a chance to shot these bows. I know i need to but i just want your opinion on witch bow u like more and or have heard good things about. The closet mathews dealer is 180 miles and my hoyt dealer is 30 miles its hard to compare.

RE: need help picking a bow
i have shot all 4 of the bows and i thought the vecrtrix and the dxt were the best i shot. the vecrtrix shot the smoothest i thought but the dxt is faster. me and my buddy were shooting at our local archery shop and we shot our bows through a crono. i have the vectrix and my buddy has the dxt and my bow shot 271 fps and my buddys shot 283 so if you are looking for speed go with the dxt but if you are looking for all the rest go with the hoyt. but likestevenmcbeesaid go shoot them all and see which one you like the best we cant decide for you

I have shot numerous bows. The determining factor is what feels right for you. I shoot the Switchback XT and plan on owning it until I can't hunt anymore. Its super smooth and quiet and Matthews' customer service is second to none. I shot a few Hoyts but they are heavy and not as smooth to me as a Matthews. The DXT is nowhere as smooth as the Switchback either. If I had to choose a runner up it would be a Bowtech. I went to Gander Mtn. a few years ago and picked up an Allegience for the first time and put 5 center mass. Real smooth and reliable for almost half the cost of a Matthews or Hoyt. Everything depends on what feels right to you.......

RE: need help picking a bow
I have shot all the bows listed and liked to Katera best and bought one. It is the fastest of the bunch but not as foregiving as the Vectrix. I liked the DXT as well but 180 miles is a hike to buy a bow, especially if you have warranty issues.
I would definately shoot them first and see what you think, good luck finding your new bow!

I have shot them all as well.. I'm not a Hoyt fan at all so I will say the Mathews.. Of the two I guess the DXT, I thought it would be too small but that darn thing shoots much better than one would think.. Only thing I don't care for that Mathews has not had since the Outback is the fact that they don't use a draw stop..
Ifthere is a Bowthech dealer close by try the General. Somewhat harsh draw cycle but everything else is super sweet, very smooth and shock free.
