If you shoot any wild deer and get it on tv you should be idolized. Should you be part of a winning team on, oh say, the Campbell's Challenge... you should be worshipped as a god/goddess of hunting.
Thank you, have a nice day.

I once heard that when they find out about a big deer they pay the landowner lots of money to come in and hunt that certain deer till they gey it! I also don't believe they work as hard as we do! I believe they work hard in there own way...ie( travel, setting up trips, planning video's and tv shows) they alot of other work involved! JMO may not be correct!

the only hunters i like that are "Pros" are the drury brothers
the setup all the stands on there farms, they plant all the food plots and they are always letting deer walk that most if not all of us would shoot because they want to shoot "trophy" deer and they do it all by themselves

The only way you will truly know what they know is if they show us. So many don't.
For this reason, I insist on our videos showing our team members shed hunting, filming velvet footage, scouting, setting stands, hunting, and not always killing (that isn't the reality of hunting - period!!!).
Unfortanately, the market is such that it insists on watching nothing but "hunt-kill". The only way to change this is to tell them how you feel. We've had TONS of good feedback because we show that we actually do "everything" - and not just go on outfitted hunt after outfitted hunt where someone else is doing all the "work".....

I'd like to know how does one get into that industry. I feel I am very knowledgeable about hunting whitetails. And have taken my fair share of P&Y's, ive taken big bucks in states that arent traditionally known for them, ones that would be trophies in Iowa and the midwest. Ive filmed some hunts, feel they are pretty good for DIY. I spend 90% of my spare time scouting and learning as much as I can and in the woods. Bow hunting is my passion. But it obviously takes more then that. Theres many guys out there that can say the same thing I have said. What does it take? Honestly? Reality? What does it take to do what they are doing now? I'd be willing to say there's a dozen guys on this site that are as knowledgeable as those TV guys, and are great hunters! What does it take for them to get thier own TV show? My first answer is $$$$$$$$$
I propose now, lets get a group of people together from this site, and start our own. With our resources of good private land, our knowledge, a good group of guys here in the bow forum could probably make some great hunting shows that would be hard for the corporate sponsors to turn down. Guys who do it without, the outfitters etc. Ok maybe im dreaming.....but maybe im not. others have the same dream as me i am sure.
Or maybe ill just wake up at 5 and go home to shoot my bow like normal.

As the WKP and HB guys can attest to...yep, anyone that wants to do it can...but we will all promise you it ain't aseasy as you might think.

I think the Drury guys are the only ones that come even close to how WKP does it. I mean if your looking for just pure entertainment, then Realtree Monster bucks is what you want. I personally won't watch them, just b/c I don't think it's even close to reality with the whole Texas box blind rifle thing, but we won't get on that. I think they can be entertaining just like the Muzzy vids or Lee and Tiff etc...but if you want to know how a pro does it, then look at WKP for the blue collar grit of bowhunting. Now I know they hunt some great stuff, but it's not through outfitters, they knock on doors and pay their own leases and such. I think Todd and the others are good hunters, are they better than me or you?? Maybe, maybe not, but they do kill big bucks every year and they do it sometimes on public land, check out Walt's pics. They do it on private land which almost all of us hunt, so they are like us, they just put it on film.

Just because a guy that hunts on t.v does not mean he is a crappy hunter. Lets face it if these guys hunted alot ofpublic land all the time and shot a bunch of bb's does and fork horns, not many people would watch.
The drury brothers usually hunt there own farms, but someone thats jealous is probably gonna dock these guys and say that its not fair because they manage there farms and blah blah blah. I have also met alex rutledge and he is really knowledgeable. Most of these guys got a start in the first place because they were good at what they do. Not super hunters or way better than anyone on here but dont say they are bad hunters because they can afford to hunt outfitters.
If them hunting an outfitter is making them bad or lazy hunters than anyone who has hunted an outfitter should be seen in the same way.
Just my .02 cents.

I do think that when a mature deer is killed at an outfitters land by a client who rolls in on Sun and is out with a 180" by Tues it's kind not a lot of work for that guy. It happens, read back a few posts. Im not knocking anyone for doing it, Im just saying that I think the pay to play outfitters that drop you off in a stand that you have never seen or hunted from before takes away from the ability for anyone else to see your abilities as a hunter.

Some of these folks were excellent hunters before they ever appeared on television, some were not and still aren't.The same basic fundamentals for success apply to any hunter regardless of whether you are a television personality or not.
First off to kill big deer you have to hunt where they are, then you have to hunt smart and hunt hard.If a lot of variables are controlled such as pressure, age structure, buck to doe ratio's,food sources, scouting by either you or a guide or outfitter. With these variables tended to in the right way a very average hunter can be made to look like an exceptional hunter.
