Breath out on a cold morning and watch how far, and which way, the warm moist cloud goes before it disappears as it becomes the same temp as the surrounding air.

how is your scent going to be coming down as the air is heating up (on a cold morning)?

Common sense will tell you that! I love the Wind Floaters, using them on a consistent basis for a few years will teach you a lot about wind currents and Thermals!

Yes,they play a part in my hunts.I luckily killed a buck many years ago who was getting on his feet as the thermal shift was occurring. The first time I saw him he was coming out of his bedding area with the wind at his back and the thermals blowing to his right side.He was traveling down the edge of a ridge that he could look down.He had every direction completely covered. The first time I saw him he was out of bow range and he got a snoot full of me because of the thermals at about 60 yards out.A week later after having rested the stand for 7 days I killed him before he got in to my scent stream from the prevailing wind and the thermals. Both times I saw him was within minutes of the thermal shift.

Hunting here in the drainages in the Rockies I use the current on every hunt. I start high and work my way down in the early mornings. In going from an elevation of 4500 ft to 2225 on a hike I use the thermal current to my advantage. Sometimes winds can change every 5 minutes and cold weather can change an approach also. The wife will drop me off and I have an atv at the bottom or she'll me me there at dark-thirty.
