One thing I don't see mentioned is the wind. Knowing the prevailing direction would have a big impact for me to decide where to go. But if you say the deer are traveling from the corn in th AM, what happens when the corn is harvested. Where is the next food source. I always try to figure out where the does are going and coming from all year and then look at the map to figure out the best spot. If this were me and the first time. I would find some of the highest spots I could see the farthest with the least impact and let the deer tell me where to go.

gri22ly....you are about damn near right on the money where we have a stand.... its my grandfathers stand... very very productive in bow season not worth a shoot in rifle season.... its kinda an open spot my grand father clears....when there starts to be alot of ppl activity the deer wont come through...

for some reason these 4 spots have produced me the best bucks off the ground the last 5-6 years... outta these 4 spots theres been a nice 6,7,8,8,9 points... i really dont understand it but i aint complainin.....
