A little scouting
#1
Well I'm a little bummed because the club I hunt with lost some land recently and because of it's location we may end up not getting the piece beside it eitherthis year because it has very limited access roads. Probably about 7 or 800 acres total and all very nice. We are usually picking up new land every couple of seasons and we still have probably close to 4000 total acres, so I won't whine too much, I just really like that piece.
So today I had to ride out there and take down some stands whichsucked but it wasalsogood because it gave me an oppurtunity to scout on our other pieces and hang another trail cam. This cheered me up because the corn and soybeans look great and we have some fields that are just being planted with beans because the wheat was harvested late due to heavy rains. That should mean at least a couple of bean fields that don't get harvested until late this season.
Anyway here are a couple of pics:
Keep eating little fella.

What's your hurry??

This bean field is getting hammered by deer you would not believe the sign within the woods near this field, you literally can not walk without seeing deer droppings everywhere. I took a video of it but it's a little nauseating to watch and I haven't figured out how to postit just yet. On the other side of that wood line(approx 80 yards) there is another bean field, looks like an hour glass from above.

Corn looks great and I can not wait for season, this is the field I took both my bow bucks near last season. It looks promising for this season as well.

Same fieldd and I know that's a little deer but look at the corn in comparison.

Damn that corn is tall! Corn here in central Minnesota is between knee and waist high. We had a very wet and cool spring.
Sorry to hear about your luck NEW. It may provide better opportunities somewhere else though.

MH,
Yes it is in VA. This land is over on the Eastern Shore. The company that owns the land we are losing is either selling it or trying to lease to a higher bidder or smaller group. We're no 100% sure but it's the nature of the beast these days with leases. Fortunately we have lots of farmers and local in the club so we usually are adding more than we are giving up and I can count the bowhunters on one hand that hunt with us so it's a pretty sweet deal. Even during gun season a lot of our members are old timers just out relaxing and having a good time eating and shooting the breeze.
You wouldn't have thought that was VA with corn like that huh!!

Well it just so happens I do and I will shamelessly post them again per your request:
Oct 13 2007 (I know, I know, I should have let him walk but I tell you he was tauntng me, I passed on him two times earlier that day trying to take does that were near by, then he ran them off and came diddy bopping back by me at like 10 yards and I was really just practicing drawing and aiming on him, I wasn't gonna shoot but as soon as the pin hit that crease my finger took over and he became the icebreaker for last year).

This guy was about two weeks later and an incredible hunt
here's a link if you are bored like me Raindrops Were Fallin' On My Head...... )
