Default Hanging Tree Stands

When do you all start hanging your tree stands or do you leave them out year round.

Our season starts Sept. 15th and I will hang 2-3 stands in mid August and I will wait on the rest until a good scrape line shows up in late October.

I have a buddy that leaves his stands out year around. What are your thoughts??

I dont like to leave any of mine out all year except a few heavy ladderstands. If you leave them out all year the wear and tear is more significant. The squirrels will chew on the seats if you dont remove them. The straps/chains will grow into the tree if you dont adjust them periodically. Seems a lot easier to take them down at the end of the season and put them back out 4-6 weeks before the opener.

I'll be out in early August hanging mine. My season opens on Sept. 27th.

There are a few I leave out all year, if I really liked the location they were. I normally pull my stands in Feb when I start shed hunting. I try to get the stands back out no latter than August.

The only ones that stay out all year are the ones I just didn't have time to take down. I have already started putting them back up for this season. I figure it good to get them up and let the deer get used to them.

mine stay out all year. I usually do some trimming in august. if you take the seats off of them and inspect the chains well before hunting them, I see no problem.

I leave mine up year round. I'm getting a little older and lazier. I just put new straps on every other year and take the seats off. If I put a new stand up, I'll do it in July. I'll put the seats back on my stands in August. I want to be done with everything, including stand work and cutting,by mid August, and stay out of the woods til Oct. 1st, opening day. No need for scouting. I already know where they are going to be. One of the benefits of hunting 200acres.
