Thanks guys. Tanner has had hunter ed. He owns a Sako .243 as well as a 410 and a 12 ga. He will meet Ohio residency requirements and missing school is something I'll have to ask his parents about.
EDIT: And so far he has no idea I'm doing this.

He will need to use the 12 ga, with slugs, or if its a rifled barrel, sabots.

Its a Mossberg 500 with modified choke. I think I'll get him a rifled barrel for it. Is rifle hunting not allowed in Ohio? I'll look it up. OK, got it. No rifles on public land.

if i could i would be happy to but im a long ways away from there im about 5 hours south of there.

no rifles in Ohio for deer season.
He's able to hunt the youth weekend, (I think they can shoot anything, but I am not sure)
Or the general gun season that opens the monday after thanksgiving
