Apparently my definition of "pass" and yours are two very different things... Sounds to me like you tried to shoot both deer, but couldn't get a shot off. To me, "passing" a buck means never taking your bow off the hook. It meanshaving said deer in range, presenting a clear, makeable shot - butconciously decidingnot to shoot.

Honestly - I've never let a buck through that would break 100". Either I'm not artificially inflating the scores to make myself sound like some Monster Buck Wizard, or I just hunt crappy areas... Maybe I just don't know how to measure... Either way, based on my field-judgments, every singledeer over 100" I've had a legitimateopportunity to kill... I killed.

This year, I did leta couplego that might have been a shade over 100.

"Passing" bucks is a funny thing - and major source of my personal amusement: My buddy has never passed up a buck that wasn't at least 115. LOL I just smile and agree...

All I know is that there are always an awful lot of awfully big bucks that were supposedly "passed up" every year...LOL Color me skeptical... But the Kingwould recommend putting on some chest waders before reading any further in this thread.

To be honest with ya, i dont think i've ever passed up a legal buck archery hunting. I've had them within range and not got an ethicalshot but to methats not a pass. Thats S*** luck.

The biggest 2 I've passed on was from this year and two years ago. The two years ago one wasn't as much a pass but decsision not to shoot (passed the shot I gues you could say). It was about a 145-150 inch 10 at 15 yards but I would have been shootin through some sticks and it was lightly raining so I opted to wait for a better shot and not chance it even though I could have put an arrow in him finding him was weighin on my mind. He never gave me a shot and I was sick but in a way happy I let him walk. He was the biggest buck I've ever had in range..... The one htis year was a nice 8 pt 3 or 4 year old deer I'm guessing 4 cuz he had good mass and was a tank even in early oct when I had him at 25 yrds. My brother was supose to be in the stand with me that night but he had something come up and couldn't go. He would have shot this buck bein his first and all but he wasn't there so I was forced with the decision to shoot or pass. Well even though he was a good old buck I knew there was a couple better ones with one pushin 160" so I grabbed the video camera and taped him the whole time. He was a heavy horned deer with huge brows and g2s but very samll g3s. So he would have only scored prolly 115-120 but an inpressive old deer to say the least. He was a tank. I ended up shootin a 125 inch 10 later in the season so for this year I'm lookin at pullin the trigger on nothing less than 135-140". WCL

The biggest buck I let go was a 10 point. I thought he was an 8 point until he walked by at 10 yards and I seen his 4" end forks which I didn't see before. I watched him walk by at 10 yards being there was nothing I could do as I was sitting in my seat and my recurve was hanging in the tree. He would of scored in that 135" range, maybe even a tad bigger. I've let by a ton of 125" to 130" bucks, most of these were 3.5 year olds.

Sorry, but not being able to get off an ethical shot doesn't qualify as a "Pass." Hell,I'm sure we've allhad some awfully nice deercruise throughout of range, andcould've easily launched a Hail Mary at them...

But I don't go around pretending that I let them walk by out of my own volitional will.

If you attempted to find a lane or get a shot - you didn't pass him up. You screwed up. Big difference.

I passed a 9 pointer last year. It would of scored around 110". We actually saw him on a field a couple of nights later and I glad I passed on him. He was about 110" . I had him within 7 yards that night broadside. Came into my my code blue scent I had out.

I have passes on a lot of other bucks but were smaller. Most likely 2 1/2 year olds around 100".

By drop's definition the biggest buck I've passed was a monsterous 12 point that I guess in the 165"+ range, but I've been told by others that have seen this deer he is easy 170". I only saw him once while hunting and he came by at 50 yards. Too much of a stretch, so I "passed" on him. Another buck that falls under this category is a buck that was in the 110" range. He came by just at dark and I couldn't see well enough to try a shot so I didn't. I had another decent buck (100"ish) right under my stand after dark and I could see his rack clearly, but again after shooting light/hours so he got a "pass."

I'm pretty much like Quik. If it goes 100" or better it has a good chance of catching some death.
