I guess a lot of1 1/2 oldsbut the older bucks I justcouldn't get a good shot at.They just don't seem to pose in the shooting lane like the smaller ones. This year I was trying to video one on a hot doe and didn't see her cut back through my shooting lane.So to say I got caught with my pants down would be a understatment.[:@]

Like Quick said there's a big difference between a "pass" and not getting a shot off.

There's a big gap between not wanting to shoot a certain deer, and not wanting to 'force' a shot IMO

I have let big deer walk because no 'perfect' shot was presented, But my standards go down when it comes to deer I choose to let walk.

^^^^^Well, in that case; a 150-160" 10 pt.(+2 small abnormal points) that I saw several times in one season, and elected not to shoot a thick 14 yd. shot. Last time I saw him, never found out what happened.

Sorry, but not being able to get off an ethical shot doesn't qualify as a "Pass." Hell,I'm sure we've allhad some awfully nice deercruise throughout of range, andcould've easily launched a Hail Mary at them...

But I don't go around pretending that I let them walk by out of my own volitional will.

If you attempted to find a lane or get a shot - you didn't pass him up. You screwed up. Big difference.
Gotta give it to the king. Well put. Ive had a few bruisers come through easily within bow range, either no shot, he was running, etc. I sure as heck wasn't "passing" on him or "choosing not to shoot". I didnt get a shot.

I chose not to shoot a decent 90 ish 7 pointer this year. 10 yards, wide open lane, bow in hand standing up....decided to not pull back. That is the biggest buck i gave the pass while bow hunting. Im happy with sticking to my standards, even though i REALLY want a first archery buck.
