max range
#32
I routinely practice out to 50 yards, and on calm days will shoot at 70 yards, but I like to keep my hunting shots inside of 40. I know that on an average day I can hit what I want at 40 yards, so that is good enough for me. I try to keep it inside that because there are other hunting factors that start to come into play, like animal movement, wind, unusual positions for the shot, etc. These will chip away at accuracy so I take them into account.

My longest kill shot to date was 34 yards. I'll probably NEVER shoot any farther than that or even close, I don't want to. This year I won't be going any farther then 18 yards with the Longbow and maybe, maybe 25 yards with the Compound. The way I look at it, it's bowhunting, I want them in as close as I can get. I hunt in the woods of Michigan and Wisconsin, I'll save my 25, 35 and 45 or even 50 yard shots for the Flintlock! Some guys need to take the long distance shot because of what and where there hunting, my hats off to ya!
