RE: Any of you get po'd and almost quit Deer Hunting?
I got ticked off pretty well one time after I had a climber stand stolen. I went in one afternoon (never hunted there before)and hunted until dark, and left the stand only to find it gone the next morning way before first light. Heck, I came down the tree with the little flashlight in my teeth, and came back in the dark too. I've walked up on many stands, and never even considered taking someone elses property.

I have moments when I shake my head at myself for doing something I know I shouldnt have done. Like when you hear that crack of a branch breaking behind you real close and swinging around real quick to look more out of instinct than anything, and spooking a nice shooter, or a doe with a hammer in tow and getting busted, or something as stupid. But I try and learn from all the bad stuff. Like when I make a questionable shot, in my early years the anticipation of getting down and start looking for blood, then bumping a deer never to be seen again. Now I just pack up and get out and evalaute the shot and make plans to recover the next day. My dirty laundry list is a long one but Ive learned allot over the years.

I almost quit my first year bowhunting. I had a nice doe broadside at 15 yards let my arrow fly and hit a branch. I watch my arrow veer off and hit her thigh. I felt like crap and I still do. I'm pretty sure she survived there wasn't much of a blood trail and my arrow didn't penetrate very far. I found it later on when I was blood trailing her. I'm just hoping she didn't get infection where I hit and died a slow death. It did teach me to make sure there are no limbs around. Looking back that limb may have been good though because I'm pretty sure that arrow would have hit her in the guts if it hadn't hit the limb. I just can't think a limb could change the direction of the arrow that much. I just hope I don't ever have to experience woundinga deeragain.
