ladder stands

RE: ladder stands
That is all I have ever hunted out of, ummmm bowhunted for the 1st time in 1983. (gun 1982)
Most of ours are wooden home-made jobs, sitting at about 12-13' up, gotta have a good back drop, and find a tree they can drop into, no telephone pole type of trees, get them branchy, bushy ones, and make a spot to lean the stand into.
We currently have about 20 wood stands, 5-6 double metal stands 15', 4 single 15' metal stands, and 3 20' single metal stands.
Been thinking about getting a climber but any spot that I might think about using it, there is a stand within bow range

RE: ladder stands
Great - appreciate the responses fellows - I got the direction I am thinking of heading - should work out well, lots of large oaks, pines, and cedars to help blend in, I am also going to camo paint them before putting out and leave them outside two months prior to taking them to the woods

I am suprised at the positive responses to ladder stands. Actually shocked! I have had nothing but bad results from ladder stands. Even when I try to hide them real well. I pick trees for my climber or lock on that have great background cover and or trees that are large enough to hide my outline. Even then they are looking up and can pickme out.

I like the 2 person ladder stands. Great to take the wife or kids and when your by yourselfyou have lots of room. Not very easy to setup. I found you got to watch what ladder stand you get.Seems most are made for gun hunters and they do not work well for bow.

I have 4 and hope to add a few more. They are great if you can leave them up year round. They go up easy, they are safe and quiet and really cheap compared to some others. The really fit the way I hunt best. I put them up in the spring and summer and by the time season comes in the deer pay no attention to them.
