I use them on 1 farm I hunt with exclusive permission..I have 2 set-up yearly.. They are just the cheapest ones available I think Ameri-steps ?? They are like 59$ at the local D-i-c-k-s. They are 15" to the standing platform.

I also have a couple of the cheap ones that I set up for people I may bring hunting with me be it youngsters or people that aren't that comfortable with heights. for some reson the ladder stand seems to make them feel better about being up in the air .

I like them for private land. I have one 12 footer hunters view brand that I tuck into some thick cover and I went all out last year and bought a two man partner stand from big game. Sucker has a 36" by 45" platform so you can bring someone along for the hunt or just enjoy the extra room when standing/glassing. I'm building and securing a custom lightweight blind for it this year out of some 2x2s, camo burlap, and branches. Kind of hard to draw over the store bought blinds you could buy for it.

The major con is the weight. It may be left in the same spot now until it's time to send it to the scrapyard. But doesn't matter as long as the trail 15 yards from it stays hot, which it has for the past few years.

I use a 15' Rivers Edge ladder stand and like it. The only thing that I would change is for it to be a little wider and a bigger platform.

I have 2, a 15' Ameri-stand and a 17' Rivers Edge XL. I like the 17' the best.

Just got a new 20' Loggy Bayou Ladder Stand! The thing is very stable and well built. I think I paid @ $150 from Bass Pro. I've always hunted hang-ons in the past and it has allot more room and you can angle it a little bit as to recline.

I couldn't agree with you more. I use the same stands....well, actually4 of them and they are a bit narrow for my frame.
