Default Any shop shooters on here?

I know there's quite a wide variety of "pro staff" guys on here... how many of you are actually "shop shooters"?

What are your requirements, in general, to fulfill your obligations as such? Does the owner require you to work in the store some... put on any kind of seminars, etc?

Do you do anything above and beyond to help your shop out?

For those serious about the position... What changes do you think could be made to make the relationship beneficial to both you and the shop?

Thanks in advance!

Personnally, I qualified EXPERT with everything except the 45. Sharpshooter is second place.

Todd,

Thanks for taking the time to answer... If you don't mind, let me ask you a few more...

Is that all that was ever required, was just to "represent" your store at shoots? Did you ever feel compelled to want to do anything more than that? If so, do you think it would have been worth it to you?

Since you're familiar with the program, how do you think it could be made more beneficial to both parties? (shop and shooter)

(just pretend it's a tech question and let the words roll... [8D])

I guess you could say I shoot for my shop, but it's due to me working there. I'd be shooting for them anyway though.

With the addition of shooting for the shop, I've been fortunate enough to get on a pro staff or two. More in particular, PSE. The PSE thing is VERY similar to the Bowtech Advisory/Coorperate staff. They call the PSE staff I'm on, the Sales Support Factory Staff I believe. I basically just represent at shoots, and talk up the bows a little.

Most of the Hoyt National Shooting Staff guys, are guys thats been offered "shooter" bows through their shop. Depending how many Hoyts a shop sells each year, the shop gets so many "shooter" bows. It's usually, or atleast it is for us, 4 at 30% off Retail, and1 at 35%. I get offered these first, where I work there, but Ijust didn't want togo withHoyt. I could be wrong but I'm sure this is how TFOX and Mobow are....

Hey Matt,my shop gets 1 at 50 % off dealer.(that give you an idea how many Hoyts he sells)If not,he has one of those gold bows on the wall.[8D]

Greg, that is all that wasrequired.Since my shop is about a 45 minute drive out of my way for anything I do,that is pretty much all I did. However, often times the bows I sold were setup by me at my house.

There have been a few times when in the shop that I would setup a package bow or work on something but that was rare.

I might add that I was a loyal customer for years before hand, as well as many people in my family.

As far as more beneficial, not really sure.Heck,I didn't even have to sign a contract because the dealer I have just asks and he gets.[:-]Maybe that is something to consider.Just trusting in the dealers judgement. They know their area and local shooters.

I know how all the pricing works, Matt

I'm looking more for things along the lines of... How mutually beneficial do you really see the relationship being? Do you think the program in general gives the owner a solid ROI (return on investment)? How do you think it could be made better?

In other words, how do you think you could make yourself more valuable to the shop you shoot for? Since you're both a store employee AND pro-staff, I'd be particularly interested in your take on this... thanks.

And just to clarify --and I'm not trying to bust on you; you may be right -- but from what it sounds like (and I'm only clarifying because I see others wandering about our position frequently) the Corporate Advisory Staff is a whole lot more than just shooting and talking up the bows. There's only like eight or so of us nationwide, and we are authorized to speak directly for the factory, work marketing events, call on dealers, handle customer complaints... we have the ear of the ownership and often give input to various aspects of the business.

Again, not trying to make your position look less important in the least... just clarifying that it's not a "shooter position" like it sounded like you were describing there.I've had those too, and this is nothing like it.

Well I believe we got one at 50% now that I think of it. The owner took it however. They GAVE him one and then he took the 50% one too. Then the others are like 30 or 35 I believe.

Greg, I'll type up a response tomorrow. I'm about to head to bed right now.

I shoot for a shop here in Illinois. My deal is with Hoyt. As tfox said, Hoyt gave the bow up at 50% off and the shop covered the other 50%. As far as requirements go, my relationship is pretty informal. Hoyt provided a few shirts and hats, the shop and their name and logos put on it them. I wear them when I go to 3D shoots, I guess it has helped them out a little. I have had guys talk to me about the shop while on the course and then found out latter that they stopped in. I shoot in all of my shops indoor leagues and have gotten some new shooters to start shooting there, so again, I guess it is helping them out. The only thing the shop owner asked of me was to help work a few shows for him and he does a customer appreciation day that he wants me to help out with also. I think it works out for both the shop and myself. Hell, I dropped another $300 in his shop last Wed night, I think that brings my 2008 total up near $1500 for the season, so he is making his money back out of me for sure.
