How many or what % (however you want to state it) of deer that you've killed were the direct result of
1. Ranging the deer itself
2. Ranging objects once you got in stand
3. Guessing the yardage and being correct(not ranged at all)
4. The deer was close enough the range didn't matter.
Now how many deer do you feel you missed as a direct result if not using or having a rangefinder?

The first thing I do when I settle into the stand is to range out all of my shooting lanes. This is extremely helpful and a lot of deer are dead because of it.

Over my career I wouldn't have a clue but since I've gotten my rangefinder too many years ago I've ranged every deer I've shot unless it was so close it didn't matter. I use a Crooked Horn Bino strap on my rangefinder. When a bucks in, I range, attach release, draw, stop, shoot.

Well I started killing deer with a bow long before there were range finders or any of that. LOL I remember walking off distances a few times. LOL So, I've killed a lot of deer, but most haven't been ranged or anything around me ranged.

I like my range finder. I've only had it for three seasons and haven't made a kill as a result of using it yet. They've all been so close.
