I guess that questions 3-4 run together if you don't own a rangefinder, and you've never used one. I just estimate everything from the stand - and shoot it for the appropriateyardage. If it's too close to matter - then I just use my top pin. I honestly have no clue what percentage of shots were outside the range of my top pin. Maybe 25%?

Davidmil - I step off the yardages sometimes, too. If the situation requires it.

Maybe one of these days, I'll have a spare $200 laying around and pick up a rangefinder. But for now, I'm good without it.

How many or what % (however you want to state it) of deer that you've killed were the direct result
100% #3 and #4.

I'll be honest......I take mine sometimes....and I range objects around my stand. When a deer comes in......am I gonna sit here and tell you I take all that into consideration? Nope.

I end up 100% of the time....."guessing" the yardag.

Now how many deer do you feel you missed as a direct result if not using or having a rangefinder?
Zero.

The way this was starting out, I though I was going to be the oddball, butyou recentposting guys bailed me out.

1. 0%
2. 0%
3. 5%
4. 95%

A case may be made for me missing one buck WAY back in the day to not having a RF, but honestly, I don't even know if I knew what a RF was when I was 15[8D]Heck if my bow was probably jsut 20 fps faster I'd have killed him.
