Marquis vs Black Ice

ok, after going to hunter's friend and checking my DL the way they say to, it is 27". I have been shooting a 26" DL. however, I do shoot a release and d loop if that makesx a difference. either way it's short!!! that's why I pull over 70# and shoot a 365 grain arrow, trying to get some speed and KE!!!

Yes a release and D loop will shorten your draw but not by much unless the release is too long, maybe 1/2",If you draw should be 27" I would go to 26 1/2" to a ccomodate the release and D loop. And how much poundage will you be shooting? and how heavy of an arrow?

I usually give away the Diamond bows after a year, last year I had the BI and ordered a Marquis to be this years hunting bow, I made the mistake of shooting the BI one last time.
Long story short the BI is still here with me I could not part with such a great shooting bow, I know I can set that baby up and shoot lights out with it anytime.
But for now it is nice and cosy in it's case, sitting patiently as my back up.
The Marquis is another great shooting bow and is probably going to stay with me as well.
Best thing to do is go and shoot both then try and decide which one is more suited to you and your shooting style or be like me and have both

A 367 gr arrow at 70# @ 26.5" draw you will get approx 60 ftlb of KE at 271 fps. The thing is you got a short draw length loosing you allot of speed. I think you should be ok with 69 lb of KE but you might want to stay away from mecs.
edit: This is for the Marquis.

Landon, I wouldn't get caught in the speed/KE numbers game. There are a lot of things I look for in a bow besides speed. KE on most bows are more than ample. Also trying to shoot one pin out to x-number of yards is not that important. I still have some speed bows No doubt, but it seems every year I go to a little heavier arrow. The Black Ice and Marquis are both very nice bows. I myself would prefer the Marquis if I could choose only one. I wouldn't overlook the Allegiance, 101, Guardian or 82 either.
I wish we were closer you would be more than welcome to put all my bows through their paces.
Good Luck in your search!!

VABOWMAN,
I'm out of the loop and can't answer...not enough knowledge on those two. I'm thinking about dumping the 2003 Hoyt Havoctec and trying a DXT for 2009. Your thoughts? I like short bows with a decent brace height...I don't need a smoker...If I'm in the 275 - 285 fps range at 27.5 inches I'll be happy.
