I just LOVE to one that tell you that you're less of a man if you don't do it the way that they do it. It's like being in Jr. High again. I'll say it like I've always said it "I'm 44 years old and I'll shoot whatever makes ME happy and you're welcome to do the same".

Good post there NEW61375. It is rediculous for hunter's to always worry about what will "peta/the non-hunting public" think regarding legal hunting activities

In my mind Any body that has to resort to shooting doe fawns for meat never evenhad a man card, most likely drives a mini van with a "baby on board" window sticker, sings Tuesday night Karaoke and drinks girls lite. ;)

The majority don't but they do get called a lot of different things by those that choose to shoot mature bucks however.

I'm one of those haven't shot a buck in three years but don't care if I let one walk and the guy down the ridge shoots it kinda guy.

To be honest some of the reply's I've seen here against shooting a fawn are exactly the same as people with bucks. No challenge, your a baby, [8D]not a mature hunter and my favorite it's immoral.

how many deer have you killed? I've killed near to if not over 100 and have never had a bad tasting one.

thats cause you probably killing those corn eatin deer.:D(I have no idea ifthey are)I grew up eatingKy mountain deer eating laurel, and after moving to MD, and eating these soy bean and corn raised deer, I would be hard pressed to go back eating mountain deer. I have eaten a few 7-8 year old deer that was grey nosed that thier meat was like dirt. Only thing you can do is crock pot em.

I killed one last year. I was on a managment hunt on a property with too many does. I was asked to kill a doe, any doe. I shot the first one I saw. It was very young, and it was very tender. I didn't shoot it for the meat, there wasn't much! But what there was sure was good. Would I do it again? Only if I were in the same situation, a managment hunt to thin the population of does on the property. I shot the first doe I saw because I only had one morning to get it done. I had spent the rest of my time on that hunt helping my nephew get his first deer. He killed a mature doe.

At some point we have to realize that shooting deer whether it's a fawn doe, mature doe, small buck, big buck, or whatever, it is all part of conservation and our tradition. I mean we can debate all day about it, and it seems we have for days now, but really, why do any of you care what someone else shoots? I only care if it's on my property, and if I have guest that is seasoned and has killed lots of deer, I simply ask them not to shoot any small bucks, Id rather them shoot any doe on the land over that small buck, let him grow for next yr or the yr after. It's my lease and I make the rules!! I wouldn't tell GMMAT to shoot only mature does and big bucks, it's his property, I may not agree with it if he chose to shoot small ones, but it ain't my call. I have to agree with him that hunting is personal, and that we cannot dictate our values to others.
