Ok, I've got a little "dot" too now.....going by how you described the angle:
Shot was a 33 yd shot on this buck that was slightly quartering away
and the height:
23' up.
I would have aimed for the red dot.

Again, the shot you made was a good clean kill shot and one I'd be happy with any day..........

I found one with a "shoulder shot". The shot was 12 yards broadside from 14 feet up. No bones or cartilage interfered with this shot. You are looking at the exit hole, the entrance was directly accross and the arrow was in the ground. The BH was a Thunderhead which I don't use anymore. It was a double lung and severed the arteries on top of the heart.I watched this deer crash 35 yards from my stand.

I was very proud of this shot. It's one of those green dot shots.

Greg, That's exactly where I'd be aiming too if I were 14 feet up. I usually hunt at 16-18 feet so that's usually where I aim for a broad side shot. My picture above reflex a higher angle (23ft) and a "slight" quartering shot at 33ft.

Anything that any of us write is just going to be monday morning quarterbacking... Jeff did you need your ego stroked or something? The deer was dead inside 50 yards... think the shot placement was right? DUH?
Nope. Some criticized the shot placement in another thread......and I asked in this one if "you" would be proud of it.

I still say (no....I know) if you move this deer's right front leg back to its normal position in the photo...and stand this deer up.......that the shot was "center-punched".

I also wonder what the opinions (of some) on the shot had been if say......maybe Justin had posted it???

"Interesting"

And Mez.......ALL I'm saying is....there's cartilage around the shoulder. Are you arguing that there isn't?

I would have liked it alittle farther forward, but the deer is dead and only made it 50 yards, good shot to me.

BawannaJim you know I love ya baby..but I don't know where your aiming. You gonna blow the exit out his windpipe?? Yor success speaks for itself it just somehow doesn't translate well into words.

GMMAT... dead deer, result looks solid to me. You said you wanted it a tad higher and I agree with that, Thedownward angle you mentioned isfrom pretty high up and quartering away. I like Big J's Red dot! Whats so great about his dot is if you miss "perfection" you can hit where GregH drew his dot or where you actually hit or a little higher and still have the same dead deer pictures.

From a tree stand ,it's about as good as it gets.
23' up.

Greg....if that deer is standing up.....that green dot is in his shoulder. That's Gospel.
You need to study Bone structure on a Deer.

That's Gospel!!

Almost took me half the night to read this (Slow) and I have reached decision that
this deer is dead.

I just got in on this post. Didn't read all 14 pages. I don't have to, I think it was good shot placement on a quartered away deer. It may be a inch low, but with the distance the shot was made at the incline probably wasn't that steep.

Hey Dan (mean V), Great to see you. Its been awhile. I don't get out much...LOL

You need to get out more often!

I just noticed your signatureI'm an AKC licensed field judge. I have judged several Licensed Trials and 2 National Run Offs. I hope they push the track but keep it close!!
