Default Got to pat myself on the back

I hooked up on what should be an awesome whitetail hunt in Illinois. This will be the first year that it has been hunted in several years. The hunt is 3 hunters for 5 days with lodging included for a Grand Total of $1500(that' s for the entire group). It' s in western Illinois, that' s all I am at liberty to say The farmer has 3 sections of ground. The section we are hunting is 240 acres and he only allows 2 groups per section per year. A good friend of mine has the other hunt booked on the same property that we will be hunting. The property looks phenomenal! I got to see some mounts that have come from surrounding properties (the farmer doesn' t hunt) and my jaw is still sagging The first number in the largest of the mounts that I saw starts with 2[:-] Five days in Illinois with license, food, gas etc. for under a grand! I am stoked!

I think we may know some of the same people. Do you know Mike who now shoots for Hoyt. He went this past season. I believe Phil from Shelby Forest went as well. It sure sounds like the same hunt.

Well Welcome to Illinois( come november ) and I hope you have a great time and a sucessful hunt. I spend some time Bowhunting in Brown County Illinois every year and I have to say that Western Illinois has some great Whitetail Genetics in their herds. Illinois is a truely great place to hunt.

comndr45,

It must be different folks. This will be the first year for hunts on this property.

Lady Forge,

Thank You! I have been very impressed so far with the hospitality that has been shown to me. I am really looking forward to hunting that area.

jimmya,

A hunt on the way home sounds great as I will be leaving on Friday and don' t have to be back to work until Monday. The spot appears to have alot of potential. But whether I kill anything or not, I am getting out of here for a week and hunting Illinois. That ought to be an Old Milwaukee commercial

WV Hunter,

Let me case the place and see what our chances are

Bowfantic,

I am going to Illinois to hunt with one of the most pleasant individuals that I have ever met. If I don' t even see a deer it' s going to be a great trip. Anything above that will just be bonus! Just being in one of the most productive trophy areas in the country for a solid week of anticipation is worth far more to me than I am actually paying!

A buddy of mine spent $3500 to hunt Heartlands in Pike county. Although he didn' t get anything he said it was worth every penny.
Good luck to ya!
