What got your attention this year?
A bow quieter and more vibration/recoil-free than the Guardian.
Ifyou mean the General then I would say you are still waiting. The 2 are hard to even compare with the new string catcher being the likely source of any perceived "less" of either. Plus it is slower.

Two bows that actually WILL shoot in excess of 340 fps. Some that made, and make that claim, won't.
Many bows will do that today and more..........the speed game is over for Bowtech, everyone else is right there as well. The key to the future will be someone who can make a bow that is lights out fast with a buttery smooth draw. No one has yet.

Iguess PSE and HCA get my vote for the courage to venture out into the deep end of the pool while everyone else seems happy to stay in the shallow end and keep recycling the same old toys year after year.

I haven't seen any of their new offerings so please explain, what NEW technology did they both come out with for 2008?

atlasman, you need to go out and shoot all the bows you say that are out there that can shoot 340+ with a legal arrow and compare;)

If after that you still think they are all on an even playing field then I'm not sure about you;)Bowtech made the Black Knight a few years ago that would compare in speed to the Airborne 82 but if you shoot those bows side by side I bet even you could tell a vast improvement[8D]

How long you been in archery? I still remember when bows over 200 fps were consider fast (Dang rough to do it too) and 300 fps was thought to be untouchable. Now you have bows popped 300fps and are unbelieveably quiet, smooth and shock free.:D

My Guardian and General both shoot in the 280's with a 25 grain heavy arrow at only 60# and 28.5" draw.;)

Buck Magnet 01-21-2008 03:27 PM

RE: Who is the leader in bow technology right now?

Okay, here is a list of the "speed bows" for everybody... this is their IBO ratings

APA Black Mamba X1- 355 f.p.s.
APA Black Mamba X2- 342 f.p.s.
BowTech 82nd Airborne- 350 f.p.s.
BowTech 101st Airborne- 340 f.p.s.
Elite GTO- 350 f.p.s.
Elite Synergy XT- 340 f.p.s.
HCA Iron Mace Trinary- 340 f.p.s.
Martin FireCat- 345 f.p.s.
Martin Slayer Xtreme C.A.T.- 350 f.p.s.
PSE X-Force HF- 348 f.p.s.
PSE X-Force Dream- 340 f.p.s.
PSE X-Force7 HF- 340 f.p.s.

Thats all of the ones that broke the 340 f.p.s. mark. Thats a total of a dozen bows. Now, if I wanted to get really technical I could mention that the BowTechs are tested with the string silencers and a nock on the string. If you factore those in then the BowTech 82nd should be around 358 f.p.s. and the 101st at around 348 f.p.s. Also, measure the true draw lengths and draw weights and see what happens. I would be willing to bet that if the draw lengths were set to exactly a measured 30" and the draw weight set to exactly 70 pounds, most if not all the bows besides the BowTechs would be between 5-10 f.p.s. slower than there advertised IBO speed!

GMMAT 01-21-2008 03:30 PM

RE: Who is the leader in bow technology right now?

I got 337.4 out of a 70# - 29".....with the first arrow ....through a WB!

Hard to believe they're fudging.....especially on a bow in a random shop in podunkville, NC.

362gr arrow

Dan
Hey Dan, I am a short man, and don't like that remark one bit.;)

Seriously, you BowTech diehards (blowhards sometimes) are something else. I admire your loyalty, but get a grip already. You all would do well to look at Pat Dinan and how he handles himself to see how a true professional conducts himself.

This is not directed at any one person in particular, but if I were a BowTech exec. and read some of the posts on this thread from members displaying the BowTech Corporate Staff Member tag in their signature I'd be pulling some of those credentials. As representatives for BowTech you should provide information in a professional manner and not belittle those that need informed. Now I know some of it was friendly banter, but some of it clearly was not.

I really like BowTech and have owned more BT bows than any other company and will certainly own more.

I see where Atlas is coming from on the General. I have shot it and I am not overly impressed. It is slightly smoother in the draw than the Guardian, but not a vast improvement from a draw that was not my preference. Plus you lose speed, which is another downer. I did not shoot it side by side with the Guardian, so I couldn't say if it was more shock free or quieter, but it was definitely impressive in that regard. The thing is again it is slower.

To me the Airbornes are more impressive, and I actually prefer their draw to the General's.

The thing I really love about BowTech is that the listen to their customers about what they want and deliver. So here is my plea again. Take the Guardian/General design and put that together with the Airborne cams to create a quiet, shock free speed demon.

There's my request, I'll start saving my pennies now.;)
