I am so sick and tired of hearing this from people. You havent killed one yet. Itell them that yes I have a couple does in the freezer from early in the season,But I am looking for a big buck from now on. Some say ohI see. But the ones that make me so disgusted are those that say well look at the pics of the 8 or so deer we killed over gun season and the pics show some nice does and afew small like 4 or 6pointers.Every year if you look for big deer and don't get one they wanna say well you must not have any luck or need to learn how to hunt cause we kill a bunch. Same people when you dodrop a big buck they tell everyone you just got lucky. Makes mejust want to scream at them that my 6 year old would'nt shoot the little can openers that they do.

Sorry just venting. Anyone else go through the same stuff.
I know what you mean! And like you too, my 7 year old knows which ones to let walk and which ones to shoot. Sure, any weekend warrior shotgunner can take a deer running at 60 or 70 yards, but can that same guy take one with a bow at 40 yards, 30 yards, how about 20 yards without getting winded? Probably not. Probably the same group of guys that you are referring too that shoots before/after the proper shooting times, probably the same group that wound a bunch of deer each year that you and I find after the season is over etc...Don't ever defend yourself when you are the ethical, proper deer hunter that spends countless hours on stand and out of stand to be fully prepared to properly manage your area. Hell most weekend warrior shotgunners don't even understand proper management let alone talk smack about all the 4, 6 pointers and fork horns they shoot each year. I hunt with my compound bow ALL year long and you would be surprised at how many times I have been called "Stupid" because I don't bring a shotgun. Remember, ingnorance is as widespread as my next Ohio record book buck that I kill, but I am patient...he will come...just like the morons that hunt 1 week out of the year with a firearm and don't scout, and won't hunt anymore after that last shotgun evening sunset. Remain cool and calm, ignore the idiots comments and be patient...you are doing what is right! And you just have to consider the source of those idiotic comments. Good luck to you!

You see, where you're going wrong is worrying about what others think. You hunt for you and your pleasure. I wouldn't feel a need to explain or worry about anything they say along these lines. You're getting all bent out of shape over nothing. Just tell 'em NOPE, I haven't seen the one I want and leave it at that. Besides that, you're still hunting, they're doing honey do lists. Why would you get "sick and tired" of what others say and think. It's suppose to be fun.

One last thought .... hunting is SO personal ..... I would rather have a morning like you see in that pic, shooting 3 smaller racked bucks with my family, than to shoot a 150" by myself ..... but that's me .... my brother is different .... and that's ok

Having moment with an "alone"150'' bucks is magical[8D]. Like you and Mr. Mill said it's all personel. I have even had a few guys offer to come video tape a hunt. Something about having a camera behind me that takes away from my hunt IMO. I can not explain it, but I like that is just me and the deer. It seems to me that is how thegame is suppose to be played. Plusnobody can see me screw up

Family and friends, a lot of us hunt for reasons other than horns.

"If you aint into this he don't give a damn"(reference to shirt).

"I try not to think about what might have been!"

What a wasted trip!!

Yes that is a deer dog and a dink. OMG!!!!

A "lucky" fluke.

Even more of a fluke.

What the heck are they smiling about, with that little 7. Some people.

And I have a bad shirt on, the nerve of me.

A couple of more years andI might have raised my gun on this deer.

A button buck and a 5, might as well quit hunting this spot. There aint gonna be any big bucks.

I'm really just messing around but seriously many of us hunt for the good times spent with friends and family. I'm happy to be hunting and occasionally we have some good luck(for a bunch of weekend warriors anyway). That being said I respect guys that trophy hunt and are only happy with big bucks, just respect my decision to hunt how I want. It's not just about people complaing, be honest when some see pics of small bucks they think things like "..... my 6 year old would'nt shoot the little can openers that they do." Maybe we should spend a little less time judging each other and that goes both ways I have no doubt about people hearing comments about being dumb for bowhunting all year or "why haven't you killed anything yet?" comments but there sre jerks in every bunch just hunt how you're happy. Yes I am bored today.

I prolly shouldn't have made my statement so definitive as I have never shot a 150" buck alone ..... there aren't a whole lot of them running around here... to me it's mostly about family .... don't get me wrong, I'll go out by myself ..... but I am most excited when my young nephews, brother, or fatherscore ....
