Help with Coyotes
#1
So I sat all weekend for Wisonsins opener. Have trail cam pics of 2 nice shooters and all we saw was one small basket rack 4 point. I just couldnt believe it and tried to figure out why. So I took a stroll around our property and found 2 dead dear (yearling does) completely destroyed by coytoes. Hair, blood, stink, and dead deer body parts everywhere. I thought maybe these deer were hit by cars, but upon further insection and seeing a downed log loaded with Coyote poop I knew what killed these deer. It just makes me sick to spend the amount of time and money I did to have it all ruined by Coyotes. The woods reek of death so Im pretty sure my chances of seeing deer are really not good.
What is the best way to deplete this Coyote herd? Anyone have some suggestions?

Blue--you also may have poachers in your woods that just cut up the deer and left their carcasses out there for the coyotes to feed on. Here in Virginia our coyote population is growing rapidly. I saw them chasing a young doe to death last year...they were on here like white on rice! All three of them flanked her and were pushing her physically. They are machines! My suggestions about the coyotes, KILL them when you get a chance. Bury the dead parts of the deer..the stink will be gone in a couple of days if you do that and probably after a good rain.

It is legal to take coyotes where I live at any time by any method. We ,(I usually say harvest here but), KILL every one we get a shot at. I have taken several right off my deer stand. I bought a injured rabbit call and they sometimes come right in to it. I break my bowhunter only rule when it comes to coyotes. I let them have it with my 12 guage or 22-250. I have a vandetta with them anyway. I harvested a nice buck 3 years ago just before It got dark. We decided to leave him over night to give hime plenty of time and insure a recovery. There wasn't much left of him the next morning. It broke my heart to harvest him just to loose him to coyotes. I will never again fail to follow up a shot no matter what. I know the "when in doubt back out rule" but itno longer applies for mewhere there are coyotes. I am sure they have their place in the woods, just not in my woods. Take 'em out!

I don't think I have ever found coyote or fox scat up on a log. That is usually coons that do that.
And a couple dead deer lying around shouldn't affect the other deer's patterns.
