Blue--you also may have poachers in your woods that just cut up the deer and left their carcasses out there for the coyotes to feed on. Here in Virginia our coyote population is growing rapidly. I saw them chasing a young doe to death last year...they were on here like white on rice! All three of them flanked her and were pushing her physically. They are machines! My suggestions about the coyotes, KILL them when you get a chance. Bury the dead parts of the deer..the stink will be gone in a couple of days if you do that and probably after a good rain.
