I shot a nice 7 point today at about 2:30. He was standing 15 yards away, quartering away. Something happened at the shot, but not sure what. I either hit a branch, or torqued the bow, but I ended up hitting him in the left ham. I only got 4" of penetration, and that is including the Muzzy. I found my arrow about 10 yards from where he was standing when I shot. It didnt break off, but the shaft on the Muzzy where it screws into the arrow broke off down inside the arrow, so he must still have the Muzzy in him. I looked for blood, and found NONE! My question is, will he live with only 4" of penetration in the ham?[:'(]

Any blood trail at all? Usually this hit produces little if any blood. I killed a buck one year with the same hit. There are some very large vessels in the hams. You may want to go out tomorrow morning and look the area over real well concentrating on a crisscross of the area that you last saw him traveling. The buck I killed made a large circle and ended up dying about 20 yards from where I shot him. I let him go about 1 hour and when I decided to start tracking, I took 2 steps, heard a stick crack, turned and watched him walk up to within 20 yards and crash.
