I've pass on quite a few so farbut my standards have been met by 4 different bucks seen so far. I justwasn't able toget3 of themin bow range . [
] One was in bow range but too dark to shoot. [:@]
Tyler has had a good season also but couldn't seal the deal so far. 5x6 broadside a 15 yards and he forgot his release at home. It was too late to go back and get it. The buck grossed 147 7/8 and was shot byone ofthe boss's landlords with rifle last Friday. 150 class 5 pt at 30 yards but no shot. Another5x6in the 145 class range at 10 yards. Was too dark to shoot since hepicked a fight with another buck and also beat up a bush before going by Tyler.
Can't complain but need to get it done!!

In a nut shell I set my standard on pre season scouting, what I took, or didnt takethe past few years, and my presonal gut feeling on what is actually an atainable goal.

Good luck to all.

I feel fortunate that I killed my best buck ever this year. Since that time I have not scored again although I have had the opportunity at a smaller buck. I will not use my second buck tag unless it is bigger than the one I've already killed. So my goals have changed for this year. Next year I will kill a deer for meat regardless of what it is. If it is a small buck I'll hold my second tag for a big one.

Hunted hard the 10 days preceding our Slug season. I shot a Doe ASAP and I saw 41 bucks and 43 Does. I passed several of the Bucks and the ones I felt would make P&Y standards were able to stay out of harms way one way or the other. My hunting time will be limited the rest of the season and I hope to get back to Nebraska for a few days of late season hunting in December. If my season were over I would still consider it a success

So far I am buckless. I have had more fun in the tree this year than any year previous. Seen a lot of bucks, some shooters from a distance, passed on several small ones, one that I really hope makes it because he will be a brute next year. My wife and I really enjoy venison so we take does for meat and hunt for antlers otherwise. The only tag I was sorry to eat was the Canada one this year, had a horrible trip, took it up the ass from the outfitter. That one hurt to take home, but my IL tags and MI tags don't really bother me if I still have them in my pocket when the season is done. Still can't beat the time spent outdoors.

I am scoreless this year so far, but my only "standard" is a clean, proper shot. I have to admit, a few times I have missed "the shot" because I was wrapped up in watching other deer, but I have still had an enjoyable season.
