Default bad shot what do you think?

made a bad shot on a buck this morning. the buck walked right under my stand. i did everything right. i let him walk out a ways and grunt and stop him perfect. but for some reason i chocked and hit him high on the back a little far back. it hit just under the spine about mid way back. he bolted for about thirth yards then walked away. the blood trail was great at first but faded away to just drops. i didnt hit the artery because he would have been dead within about 50 yrds tops. but i hit a vain or something because the blood was spraying out of him. i found leaves with fine mist on them. so what do you guys think dead deer or not?

I can't say for sure if he is or not but i'm guessing he isn't dead. Sounds to me you got yourself a flesh wound. They bleed real good and then pedar out real fast. Sounds as if you hit the back loin, if thats where its hit he will live!

i shot him at 10:30 got down at noon went and checked the blood trail seen it was decent walked it about 40 yrds then backed out. went back at 100 looked for a few hours then hunted the evening hunt. i plain on going tomorrow and hunting till noon then looking for him. the last blood was a small drop and a small spot on a tree where he rubbed up against it. the arrow has to still be in him because we never found it. i didnt get allot of penetration so im suprised its still stuck in him. but he was walking and not runing.

I'm guessing he will live but give it your best anyway, sometimes arrows are deceiving where we think they hit the deer!
