I can tell you this......I get more shot opportunities than most do. Here's what I've learnedsomewhere alongmy path to taking12 whitetails.....

The "furthest shot I would take" has gotten progressively SHORTER as I mature as a bowhunter.

I voted 31-40 because that's the limit of my practice ranges. However, I have shot one at 44.5 yards successfully. I didn't know it at the time as I didn't have a rangefinder. I probably would never have shot if I knew it. Want back with a buddy's Nikon 440 and verified the range only because he said it was over 40 and I did not think so. I was wrong.

Now, I have a rangefinder to remedy that problem!!!

I am very confident to 35 yards but have very rarely ever needed to take a shot more than 20 yards away.

I said 51-60 but let's clarify that that is on moose and caribou in open tundra and not on deer in the woods. I don't like shooting deer farther than 30 and try for less than 20.

30 yds is my limit, yet of the last 5 bucks I've taken the average shot has been 14 yards.

30yds as an absolute max, but I prefer less than 25yds.

I voted 31-40 yards but it depends on how much I have been practicing. This year I haven't had as much time to practice so I would not take as far a shot as I normally would. This year 30 is as far I would shoot unless I can get enough time in to feel confident at 45 yards or so and then I would still only take a 40 yard shot. I try to shoot slightly less than my MAX capability. I hate losing deer and this has helped me cut my recover/loss ratio.
