I'll shoot up to 60 with no wind and open lanes, perfect setup and conditions. Most days and most setups 40.
Your crazy for shooting at this range! I don't care how fast your bow is, animals will and canmove before your arrowhits its point!! Your not shooting a gun, your bow hunting my friend! Thats the problem these days, alot of the archery shops these days praise on taking these 30 to 50 yard shots!

I'm comfortable with shooting out to 50-60 yards. If the conditions are right, wind, air pressure, curvature of the earth, etc..

I don't even practice outside of 35 yards. I have one pin on that sight. If somethings within 35 yards of me.. Its dead. No questions.

A elk at 40 yards with a compound sights and shot one deer at 60 yards and one at 57 yards with a recurve bare bow. Most all are shot at 15 to 30 yards

Most deer are harvested @ 19 yards with archery equipment. 30 yards is a long way in the woods. It takes the arrow a long time to get there at 30 yards. The farthest shot I have ever made was 33 yards and I shot low knowing he would drop to gather himself to run. I hit him higher than I would have liked but It worked out anyway. He wasn't the bigest deer in the woods but I was next to the last day of Archery season and I had a tag to fill.I wanted some freezer meat and though there are a bunch of great reciepies for tag stew and deer tag jerky I decided to eatbackstrap.
