When you use your 10 yard at real close ranges you really have to aim a little high. The difference in height between where your line of sight through your peep/sight pinand where your arrow actually is will cause you to shoot low. That is why you use a lower pin to bring the arrow up.

Iv never missed with my bow, ever. I did, however, miss with a SHOTGUN !! I have no idea how, other than I was using my friends 870 and he had a Turkey choke in it. Id never shot this shotgun with buckshot and a turkey choke. I took 3 shots at a doe at 57yards and missed every one. Can you believe that ?

Yep, I believe it...Turkey chokes are not made for buckshot, most state on the package, for 4s,5s,6s whatever....Buckshot usually patterns better with a more open choke, like Improved Cylinder...A tight choke will actually spread buckshot and give open patterns...Buckshot is designed to be used within
40 yards, not 57...Buckshot must be patterned to be effective, just light tuning and sighting in a bow...

I missed a MONSTER buck last year....at 7 yards!
I was kneeling at the base of the tree I was in, wrapping up my strap-on tree-steps (public-land, non-piercing steps), when this doe and buck pulled up behind me. She was about 10 feet away, and this big 140+ 8 point was standing behind her. My bow had fallen over when I first set it down, and it must've landed on the sight-bracket, because I shot about 10"-12" in front of this deer, missing my point-of-aim by almost 2 feet. It took me three days to figure it out because after that shot, I was done hunting. I didn't touch the bow for three days.
I'll kick myself for ever over that shot, but at lest it won't happen again; I bought me a better sight!

Monday night I had my first ever "miss". I hit it high in the back above the spineat about 18 yards and never recovered it. Two things happened that cause me to miss the kill zone.
First, the deer was alert and looking at me when I shot. It dropped at the shot.
Second, my bow is dead on at 25 yards. I use one pin from 0 to 30. At 18 yards, I hit about 2" high. At 25 yds I'm dead on. I shoot 260 fps. Since the deer was 18 yards, I should have held the pin 2" lower to compensate for the closer distance. I forgot to do that. If the deer didn't drop I still would have hit the middle to upper lungs. But since it dropped at the shot I hit it above the spine.
