thanx guys.
looks like i didnt post the shot pics...
i smashed both lungs and cut all the arteries or whatever off the top of the heart. one lung looked like i hit it with my Mauser
the other was center punched. arrow blew straight through and the buck made it 20-30yds tops. watched him tip over. heard him suck air a couple times but i knew he was gone...i was VERY surprised at the lack of the blood trail. i TRIED to follow it back to find my arrow. i had a couple feet right before he dropped. you can see his hide is clean(i didnt touch it..) but inside was FULL of blood. guess it didnt reach the holes...i cannot complain. the 125gr 3blade muzzy did its job. i did mine
..
you can see the entrance here a little better..i never took any of the shot...

(guess my buddy caught me off gaurd..but really looks like im looking down and admiring him lol...i like it

heres the entrance, hide off

heres the exit, hide off

i really couldnt be happier with the shot. heck if you look at the pic of "where he was standing" and the shot of his white belly laying, your looking at the same yellow tree in both pics..he didnt go anywhere. some reason the shot entrance looks higher than it was with the hide on. must be the angle...but you can see it good hide off. you can see where the blades sliced the far leg wide open on the way out too...it must been back when the arrow went though..
PS...talk about a FAT deer. that thing had 1/2 inch of fat on most of him. between that and the meat i left on the hide, my taxidermist might whoop me lol.
hope all my shots are like that. i just already know i gotta start THINKING. i never anchored, never thought about the shot(beautiful crease i put the pin there and let er go) dont remember releasing or anything. i just remember drawing and watching that arrow sail home..same thing with my turkey shootin. i woulda had this years mounted if i didnt blow it up by shooting it in the wing with hevishot
i dont remember pulling the trigger lol...i need to slowwww down and think.

M06 you do not belong on the second page.
BTW you hit him perfect!!! To me that is better than a heart shot. The deer will run less than 50 yds when you hit them over the heart like you did. Take out the lungs and the arteries in one shot!!!! PERFECT, it's all PERFECT

thanx guys...i cant believe this made it to Matt or Frank status...
...i KNOW its a big deal to me. but you guys are alot more understanding. a couple of my friends couldnt believe me when i said hes going to the taxidermist. some people understand..true diehards like us. sure theres bigger and better bucks out there. i betcha within the next 10 yrs i kill a bigger one at some point..but nothing will compare to the first. i want to look up every night in bed and see him hanging above me. i want to picture that arrow sinking into his chest again and again.
i cant wait to get my hands back on them antlers friday!!
germ, thanks bud. i surely couldnt have gotten a better hit. he ran but i dont think it was real hard of a run. you could tell he was dead..but i dont think he charged off..i watched the arrow sink and my knees started hitting together lol..you know. i watched him run and he stopped and looked around and i watched the legs get shakey and down he went. got on the radio hoping my buddy was near and holler "BUCK down baby!!" then i let out a rebel yell.
my buddy came half jogging down the mountain..he was way uptop and on the other side. having him there made it that much sweeter..i was there for his this year. we kinda had a tag team thing goin on. i helped him scout and showed him the tree i would hunt. he hunted it and got it done. i helped him take the stands at camp down last year..never even hunted from them. guess its kinda good karma.
thanx guys....look for the update next year when i get the mount back...ive decided 100% that hes going on the wall...picking him up friday weather the meat is done or not and taking him saturday or sunday to get mounted. man mom might kill me if i put a head and cape in the fridge
