Default Got foodplot?

Heh, just had to share these pics of my biggest plot. [8D]

It's one of 3 plots this year and about 1.5 acres in size. You should see the deer on this thing......I'm guessing this will provide food until March and they are already on it all hours of the day. The tops are mostly done now and may grow a bit after this week of rain ahead of us, and will then sweeten a bit after a few frosts. As of now the turnip bottoms are only golf ball sized, but will swell to the size of softballs over the next several weeks and will provide food well into the late winter and even early spring.

Wow, that plot is doing great! I wish mine came up like that...what seed did you plant and did you fertilize and lime?

That is a very good looking food plot, hopefully you'll kill something big out of there!

Thanks guys. There are 3 seperate strips of seed in this plot. The first pic shows MO Biologic Full Draw which is a brassica mix with lots of turnips in it, a great late season plot. There is a middle strip you can't really see in there that is Tecomate Monster Mix which is a clover/chicory mix which is a perennial and needs another year to mature, this is a killer spring/summer/early fall plot and I will frost seed this again in the early spring. The last picture is MO Biologic Maximum which is another brassica mix with less turnip, and a more palatable top on it than the Full Draw and tends to get hit pretty hard from early October until about the middle of November.

Michael - Yes, this is the second year I have done this plot and between the two years I have spread about 1.5 ton of pulverized lime on this. We put down a full ton the first year, and a half ton again this year. This year was my first year fertilizing it as well, I applied about 130lbs of 10/10/10 to it and wanted to apply another 50lbs of 46/0/0 urea (nitrogen for the brassicas) but wasn't able to locate the right stuff until it was too late, so now it is in storage and I will spread it in the spring when we redisc the plot and get ready for next season.
