From what I know of it

240-260 fps seems to be the sweet spot.

Arrows/bows inthis rangeseem fairly easy to tune, compartively quiet, less sensitive to hand tourque and such.

I dunno if arrow speed really matters on head shots, I know I personaly wouldnt be proud of doing that. Ive seen and heard of alot of deer getting shot in the head with a bow and running off never to be found. To each there own I guess.

Passthru is correct. head shot isn't a recomended shot. I am proud of the shot I took though, it was a now or never shot, and I was aiming for the spine, had the pin on him a long time and with the window I had to shoot through, distance angle, yardage, it was a spine shot that I had planned for and practiced a lot from that stand. The arrow went exactly where I wanted and did exactly what I wanted it to do. If I shoot 1 inch higher it takes out the brain, 1 -4" lower it cuts his throat and hits body broadside slightly quartering away from a high angle. It's hard to put in writing but his head was turned backwards and almost laying on his back. Within a 12" circle window I had, the worst I could have done it hit antlers or give a hair cut. With in that circle, I had the brain, thoat, spine,lungs and liver. I chose A middle shot hoping to remove his tonsils and spine and end up in the boiler room. The Thunderhead made it barely into 1 lung after cutting the backbone in half and passing through the nasle cavity temple to temple. It was a weird shot that I couldn't miss.

I'm getting 281 out of a 433 grain arrow with my hunting rig.
