I was just looking at some field journals, and there is a 5 star rating system, as well as a place to add comments/feedback......That is pretty cool. Hopefully that gets utilized....That's a neat feature. Nicely done Justin....

Yupper mobow, noticed that when the forums were down and I actually nosed around the main site for a while.[8D] Very cool feature, that and comments can be left for the authors too.

Don't fear guys....He cleans those up pretty good.....Otherwise, there would be an aweful lot of these floating around in his journals....

Seriously, if ya'll get a chance, check those journals out. We put some time into those, and there are some really, really good ones out there.

Suggestion:

I'd like to hear about every shot. Was it warranted? Ill-advised (in hindsight)?

You guys have a chance to show what REAL hunting is all about. We get enough of the "other" on TV. If you hunt over bait......tell us. If you hunt food plots....tell us. If you hunt crop fields.....tell us.

I'm documenting my entire season.....with my goals up-front.....and I'm going to document each shot......each "pass" (as much as one can do so and be honest with himslef about his true chance at said animal). I don't know if anyone will ever read it......but it may help me in the future. If not....I'll know what I did this year.

Keep it real. That would be refreshing.

Good suggestion, GMMAT. I plan on documenting my season quite throughly in those journals this year......I'll be sure to include those, and anything you guys want to hear about.

Jeff - I agree with you 110% and that is the driving force behind why we started this program in the first place - to keep it real. Sure, there's going to be some "fluff" in there from time to time, but I do my best to cut that out and show the totally honest aspect of our sport. I made a bad shot on a buck 2 seasons ago and never found him, and told the story/showed photos in my journal. It is what it is, we all know that. There's no use hiding behind our bad decisions and mistakes, but rather airing them out and letting both ourselves and others learn from them.

Thanks again to everyone here who contributes to the FJ program, and thanks to everyone who reads and contributes to the feedback area. HNI is a user-driven community - we want to know what you guys are doing, what you're thinking, and what your opinons are. That means a lot more to us than some self-proclaimed expert advice.

Thanks, Justin. After living something very similar......my views on deer hunting have changed forever. It's no longer about "us" to me.

Thanks, also for not taking my post as criticism. It wasn't intended as such. It was a plea.....and one you readily embrace.

Good luck to all, this season.
