hunting journals?

hunting journals?
I was just wondering if any of you keep them.I have only been out three times this season and thought that this year after each hunt I would record these on my computer. Some of the stuff I keep track of may seem a bit silly to some of you but I like to keep track of them to maximize my time out.It helps me stay comfortable which means I will stay on stand longer here is the last three hunts.Bill D>

RE: hunting journals?
Sunday Oct,1 Sunny Winds Calm,Temp 83deg
Sunrise 6:50AM,Sunset 6:35PM
Moonrise 2:?PM,Moonset 11?PM
Moon Phase ,Half Waxing
On stand @ 2:30 PM
Done @ 6:45
Clothing uninsultaed bibs,scent block suit,ASAT camo,Scentlock cap.
Comfort level,poor.
Too warm for all these clothes, mosquitos, and my back was hurting.
Notes:I really liked my setup, with the new harness, drop rope and prussic climbing system I felt very safe climbing tree,it is a really safe/quick way to hunt.
I didn’t see any deer,my thoughts where to get a thermo cell, get back to exercising so I could sit longer(back ache).
Also I need to trim a couple branches for a clear shot to my right side. Will bring a rope, handsaw, and pole saw on early Saturday morning hunt. Also saw a couple riding by on horse trail.

RE: hunting journals?
Last year was the first time that I have kept track in a journal. It turns out to be a neet thing. I am able to go back and look at each hunt and remember things that I might have forgotten. It was fun to go back and review the entire hunting season.

Temp 65F and dropping,Winds NNE 5MPH gusting to 25.
Hunted from stand location 2 near swamp
Clothing, cabelas dry plus uninsulated bibs&non insulated parked with scent-loc
Comfort level good at beginning ,as it got later temps droped into low fifties and I started to get chilled
I didn’t see any deer ,a few squirrels.
My thoughts where: Saturday morning to bring my pole saw and a rope to trim up brinches to the south, also if I hunt my other stand to bring prussic rope, and screw in bow holder. When I am done hunting Saturday I want do do a little scouting for a possible new stand location, bring orange marking tape

RE: hunting journals?
Saturday October 7th,Moon phase full,@ 5:30 am the tempeture was 42deg.Left the house @5:55 am it is very crisp out and bright because of the full moon
I was on stand @ 6:30 A
I was wearing the cabelas grand slam fleece scent loc bibs,&insulated scent loc pullover jacket.
Scentloc fleece bacalava
The Lacrosse 1500 thinsulate rubber boots worked great
I was very comfortable
At 6:40 am it was light enough to see the forest floor and see my sight pin
Overall comfort level was good.
I did not see any deer but did see numerous raccoons, birds &squirrels.
My back did start to get a little sore after 3hrs
My hunt ended @ 10 AM.
My thoughts where to trim the nearby trees and do some ground scouting.
After scouting an area a little south of where I have stand # two I found a couple of suitable trees for climber use.
I did see some deer tracks, but not many.I think after the corn is removed and the moons wanes, there will be a lot more sign showing up(at least I hope so)
After scouting I went back to stand location#2 to trim up some shooting lanes and did such.I will leave this stand alone for a few days
After trimming location # 2 I went to look at stand location 1
This location actually looks like an unadulterated area or un touched. If I get the urge to hunt this coming week I will either hunt this stand or take my climber in to the south area.
I need to make a plan for future hunts in the coming weeks such as days off from work and where I plan on hunting
I need to pack my carry all fanny pack and put flashlights, wind checkers marking tape, knives rangefinders extra hat/cap gloves, release aide maybe reading materials, spare rope

RE: hunting journals?
I just started one this season, putting in all the details that I would normally forget throughout the season. I think it will beintresting to look at after the season ends!

RE: hunting journals?
I've been keeping one since I started bowhunting. Not very detailed back then. My current one has stand location, weather/wind conditions, deer saw/shot, and any other critters or interesting sightings.
