Just curious how many here think it is necessary on a blind or not? If you don't mind, please state reason for using/not using.

Oh, and by the way, why would you use this stuff and not a Whisker Biscuit? Will it not slow your arrow as much? Just curious has anyone checked it thru a chrono?

The consensus among the blind manufacturers is that you don't need mesh on turkeys and geese, but you do need it on the deer family and hogs. I can tell you from experience that it is not needed on turkeys. Members of the deer family have the ability to see into the blind and bust you if any movement is noted. Maybe it has something to do with their ability to see in the dark so well.

Got to have fixed broadhead to shoot through the mesh. Haven't chronographed arrows going through the mesh, but they hit the same point of impact at 20 yards. Can't slow them down much.

Per the guys from Double Bull; anything with 4 legs does not like to see black spots where there should not be any. In other words, if a deer/elk/hog/coyote/antelope comes near your blind and all they see is camo, or to them "a big pile of sticks and leaves", no problem in their world. If they see this same pile with a large black opening in the middle, problem!!!

Just like Roskoe said, it is not necessary for turkey. There were several times this past spring where I was very close to birds while in my blind and they seemed to care less about the large black opening.

At the risk of sounding stupid, I'm a little out of the loop on this shoot thru mesh. I've seen it but do not fully understand it, maybe someone could clear it up, b/c I am looking into buying a blind that has it, but again, not quite sure how it works. Is there already a hold you just shoot the arrow thru? Or do you just go ahead and let it fly and it cuts its own hole? Does it bother the fletchings? Sorry to sound like a rookie.

The arrow just passes through the mesh - leaving a three legged hole.

You will want the net to be a little tight. You want to shoot through flat net.

Works great with fixed blade broad heads and some expandables. Some of the expandables will open as soon as they go through the net. Again, according to the Double Bull guys, if you are shooting an expandable that has the band hold the blades closed, no problem.

As of now, I have shot through mine out to 50 yards with no change in impact points.

Some of the companies sell replacement nets for their blinds, which you will probably never need.

If you shoot 10 arrows in practice and then 1 deer, 1 antelope and 1 elk every year for the next 10 years, that is only 130 shots. You will probably not shoot all of these through the same window so it should last for a long time.

I have a Big Game Deluxe groundblind and I can shoot through the mess just fine.
