One sure way is to check the acorn crop. During preseason scouting I check the acorns. Once they start falling the deer will be all over them...

don't forget about google earth and google maps. i love to scout, but I like to know where to start looking when I have a large portion of land to cover!

The best way is to walk the property. I think walking it now you can still get away with gettin in some scouting and not bumping the deer too bad. Look for thickets and deer beds and since its all timeber maybe look for some white oaks.
I agree with this. Be careful, though.....I went in to take some photos in MAY.....and you'd have thought by the reaction of some, here, that I'd intruded into the sacred shrines of the holy land and caught thecrown princess taking a royal dump.

Just use common sense.

If it's feasible (depending on the size of the area) I'd make it a one time deal, take a good bit of time and make it as thorough as you can. One time in shouldn't do much harm.

Dont mean to steal your post. But I just got access to about 4 more spots to hunt here in northeastern pa. Where can I go to find topo maps, or ariel maps?
